Delves Explained

Delves are bite-sized dungeons, scaling in difficulty and rewards. A Delve run rarely takes more than twenty minutes and can be done solo or with up to 4 other players. If you go alone or your team is smaller than 5, an NPC companion will join to assist you.

Unlike traditional PvE content, Delves don't rely on role-specific gameplay, so you can play any class and go with any team comp you want.

Unlocking Delves

During the campaign, you'll encounter a quest in the Isle of Dorn that introduces you to Delves. Getting access to the activity also unlocks the Delver's Headquarters in Dornogal which will serve as your go-to location for all things related to Delves. There you can monitor your progress, take on special quests, customize your NPC companion, and shop at different vendors.

Difficulty

Delves come in different tiers, with a total of 11.
As a first-time player, you'll always begin with Tier 1. As you progress, you'll be able to choose any unlocked difficulty at the start of a Delve. Unlocking a tier in one Delve unlocks the next for all Delves.

If you're in a party, the maximum difficulty available is capped by the lowest of the highest tiers completed among all members. For example, if three players have cleared Tier 8, but the fourth has only reached Tier 5, the group will be limited to Tier 5 Delves.

Requirements

Each Delve tier has a recommended item level:

-Tier 1: ilvl 515+
-Tier 2: ilvl 532+
-Tier 3: ilvl 545+
-Tier 4: ilvl 548+
-Tier 5: ilvl 567+
-Tier 6: ilvl 574+
-Tier 7: ilvl 587+
-Tier 8: ilvl 600+
-Tier 9: ilvl 610+
-Tier 10+: ilvl 620+

The first three tiers can be done without any restrictions. Starting from Tier 4, though, characters must be maxed out and have the main campaign completed.

Delve Mechanics

Delves gameplay is pretty straightforward: most runs will require you to complete several objectives followed by a boss fight. Objectives change each time you start a Delve and typically involve tasks like gathering items, defeating mobs or rescuing specific NPCs. Boss fights are generally simple, featuring mostly telegraphed attacks that are easy to avoid.

Revives

Up to Tier 3, you can be revived as many times as you need, but starting from Tier 4, revives are limited to five per run. If you run out of lives, the Delve will reset, and you'll need to start over.

Checkpoints

Every Delve begins with a checkpoint where you can repair your gear or adjust your companion's abilities using the Explorer's League Supplies object. More checkpoints are also scattered throughout the Delve. If you die but still have remaining revives, you'll respawn at the most recent checkpoint. Reaching a new checkpoint grants +1 Revive.

Buffs & Special Abilities

During your run, you'll encounter Rare Elite mobs that, once defeated, may grant you special powers. These are temporary and random but extremely useful as they can significantly boost your performance.

Also, each death in a boss fight gives you a stack of Delver's Determination, increasing your HP, outgoing DPS, and received healing by 5% per stack. This mechanic ensures that even if you struggle, you'll grow stronger with each attempt and have better chances to finally win.

Delve Companion

For Season 1, your trusty companion in Delves is none other than Brann Bronzebeard. Future seasons are expected to feature different NPC companions, but no official details have been revealed so far.

As your teammate, Brann can be either a DPS or a Healer. You can assign his role with the help of the Explorer's League Supplies inside the Delve. Apart from helping you in combat, Brann will also alert you to dangers and point out secret treasures during your run.

As you defeat enemies and complete Delves, Brann earns XP, allowing you to level him up and unlock new abilities for him. At higher Delve tiers, you'll also find Curios inside Treasure Room chests. These special trinkets come with unique effects and can be equipped by Brann to further enhance his performance. Curios come in two types, Combat and Utility; both can be upgraded to make your companion even more powerful.

Delve Locations

Khaz Algar is home to 13 unique Delves, each marked on your map with a special cave icon.

Here's a list of all available Delves grouped by their locations:

-Isle of Dorn: Earthcrawl Mines, Kriegval's Rest, Fungal Folly
-Hallowfall: Skittering Breach, Nightfall Sanctum, The Sinkhole, Mycomancer Cavern
-The Ringing Deeps: The Waterworks, The Dread Pit
-Azj-Kahet: The Spiral Weave, Tak-Rethan Abyss, The Underkeep, Zekvir's Lair

Zekvir's Lair is a seasonal hardmode Delve, unlocked after you complete any Tier 8 Delve with at least one unused revive remaining by the end of the run. Zekvir's Lair offers a serious challenge, so it's strongly recommended that you gear up for it and go in with a full group.

Bountiful Delves

Bountiful Delves offer enhanced rewards collected from a Bountiful Coffer. This additional loot chest is unlocked with a Restored Coffer Key that you can get in several ways:

-By gathering 100 Coffer Key Shards that you can find in World Quests and outdoor events
-As possible drops from open-world weekly caches
-By reaching certain Renown levels with factions like the Council of Dornogal, Assembly of the Deeps, Hallowfall Arathi, or Severed Threads
-By purchasing it from the Delve vendor, Sir Finley Mrrgglton

Bountiful Delves rotate daily, with their icon marked as a glowing stone doorway on the map. Hovering over the icon will display how much time remains until this Delve is no longer active as a Bountiful.

To access this kind of Delves, you must hit level 80 and accept the Bountiful Delves quest at Delver's Headquarters.

Rewards

Completing Delves grants you personal gear drops as well as Great Vault rewards, both of which scale based on the difficulty of the content.

Regular Delve drops are capped at ilvl 554 and are non-upgradeable. The best loot comes from Bountiful Delves, scaling from 561 to 603 ilvls. Starting from Tier 8, you'll consistently receive 603 ilvl gear, which is the maximum possible item level you can get. All the higher tiers only increase the challenge but don't make the loot more powerful. The same goes for the Great Vault: rewards max out at 616 ilvl at Tier 8.

The number of revives you have left at the end of your run directly impacts your loot gains. The fewer deaths you experience, the higher your chance of getting better equipment.

Apart from gear, Delves also feature a bunch of exclusive rewards:
-Delver's Dirigible mount and its customizations
-Ivory Goliathus mount
-Toxic Victory toy
-Zekvir's Raptorial Spine transmog
-Vendor rewards from Delver's Headquarters, including toys, gear, and cosmetics
-Delve-specific titles like Immortal Spelunker, High Explorer, or Seeker of Loot
-Undercoins, Resonant Crystals, and additional unique items.
